Founded in 1909 by a multiracial group of citizens committed to social justice, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has attracted over 20,000 members in its 100+ year history. Because the fight for civil rights still has its enemies, the Detroit Branch NAACP has many passionate detractors. But the loyalty and affection of our members, friends and supporters is unsurpassed.

Membership is the “lifeblood” of the Detroit Branch NAACP. Throughout the history of our Branch, hundreds of thousands of people have committed to the struggle for civil rights by joining the Detroit Branch NAACP.
