Shop Detroit Campaign

Shop Detroit Front

Started in 1988, in an effort to increase in-store traffic for Black-owned and Detroit businesses, the Detroit Branch NAACP launched its annual campaign, “Buy Black, Buy Detroit” and published a “Retail Shop and Service Guide” to assist holiday shoppers. Now known as “Shop Detroit,” the campaign is very much alive covering the entire city of Detroit.
