  3. What is happening to Louisiana and many other states like this one. I was illegally arrested and I cannot find any help. The arrest was a lie that someone told on me that landed me in a La. jail.

The arrest was a surpise to me. Officer came to my house and said they was there to arrest me. I asked what did I do and the reply was harrassing phone calls. This was a lie told by some high ranking officials from Jefferson Parish who aided in this arrest.

Charges were dropped but still an injustice was done. Can I get someone to stand up for justice.

    • Hello Annie and thank you for contacting the Detroit Branch NAACP. As. Dr. King stated long ago, “An injustice done anywhere is a threat to justice every where.” Every first Wednesday of the month from 10:00A.M. – 3:00P.M., we offer our Ask the Lawyer Program. The program allows for a free 15 minute consultation with attorney regarding your legal matter. In addition, we partner with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights to address complaints of discrimination. For more information please contact our office at 313-871-2087.

Lastly, we invite you to join us for the 50th Anniversary of the Martin Luther King Jr., Freedom Walk. The event will be held June 22, 2013 and we will meet at the intersection of Warren & Forest at 9:00A.M. More information can be found at http://www.freedomwalkdetroit.com.
