Business, Faith, and Community Leaders being updated on Michigan Legislative Black Caucus by State Representative Rashida Tlaib and Executive Director Donnell White. Representative Tlaib is also a member of the Detroit Branch NAACP Executive Committee.
On March 1, 2013 the Detroit Branch NAACP brought together community leaders, church leaders, and civil rights advocates as we plan for an exciting year ahead. The community breakfast honed in on the importance of us garnering together to support and uphold the victories we have accomplished thus far, while recognizing there is still much to fight for. Pictured below is Michigan House of Representatives member, Hon. Rashida Tlaib, giving a very important update on the proposed budget for the State of Michigan. Hon. Rashida Tlaib is also a newly elected member of the Detroit Branch NAACP Executive Committee.
On February 28, 2013 the Detroit Branch NAACP hosted its monthly general membership meeting. At the meeting branch president, Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony provided updates on the recent press conferences regarding his position on the Emergency Financial Manager coming to Detroit as well as the 50th Anniversary Commemorative March Down Woodward to be held June 22, 2013.
Pictured below is Ms. Bridget Hurd, Director of Community Outreach for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Ms. Hurd provided a special presentation on the structural changes taking place in the company as it relates to legislation in Washington, D.C. and Lansing. She further expressed their mission to continually support the Detroit Branch NAACP and the community.
